How do I schedule my wedding?
Usually after a call to the office, we pencil in a couple’s desired date and time. We then ask for a $50.00 non refundable deposit to reserve the slot for you.

Can I get help writing my vows?
Of course. We have many vows to pick from, and we promise to help you pick exactly what would make the ceremony your special moment.

What if I have written my own vows?
We welcome vows that are written by the bride and groom as these are the most personal of vows. We only ask that you let us know you have your own vows, and fax a copy to us at least one week before the wedding.

I wish to include my family members in the wedding. May I?
Of course you may include family members, or any other ceremony such as a candle ceremony, or lassos or coins ceremony you may wish to add. We offer a one hour consultation with you to help you incorporate your special members or ceremonies within your wedding vows.

Do you attend the rehearsal?
We do offer attendance at the rehearsal, for a nominal fee, to help everyone understand what will be happening at the ceremony.

We are having a wonderful dinner reception afterwards. Will you be staying?
While we thank you profusely for your kind invitation, we do not stay for dinner or receptions.

What do I need to bring you for my wedding ceremony?
We will need your wedding license, and if it is a regular license, we will need at least one witness, at the most two witnesses to sign your license. We will need to meet with your witnesses and receive your license either at the rehearsal, should you have one, or we ask that the witnesses be available one hour before the wedding, so we can take care of their necessary paperwork. We ask that anyone who is a witness please bring a valid form of identification. If what you have is a confidential wedding license, then no witnesses are required.

I am coming from another county, and I have a wedding license from that county. Can I use that license in Sacramento?
This depends. If you are bringing a regular wedding license, which has not expired, yes you may. A wedding license from California is good anywhere within the state of California.

If, on the other hand, you have a confidential license from a county other than Sacramento, and your wedding is to be held in Sacramento county, we will not be able to use it. You will have to obtain a regular, or confidential license from the County Clerk’s office here, in Sacramento, or you may prefer to have your wedding in the county of issuance. If that is the case, we may or may not be able to officiate, depending on distance to that county.

How long do I have to use my license, and have the wedding?
You will have 90 days from the date of issuance of your license to have your wedding. Please make sure that you read your license, and ask the clerk at the issuing office to make sure you know how long you have before your license expires.

What if my license has my name spelled wrong, or my date of birth is wrong?
You may make corrections to your information up to one year from the date of your wedding. Please make sure you review your license when issued, but if you still find a mistake once you pick up your copy, take your copy along with your substantiating proof to the county Recorder’s office.

How will I get the copy of my license?
You may go to the County Recorder’s office, or request it by mail, or telephone to obtain your certified copy within one week of your marriage ceremony. The current rate for a certified copy is $13.00

How much does a wedding license cost?
The current rate for a regular public wedding license is $77.00
The current fee for a confidential wedding license is $86.00

Where do I go to get my license?
You would go to the County Clerk’s office. It is best to call and schedule an appointment to obtain your license. Please call (916) 874-6131. The process to obtain a license should take approximately 30 minutes.

What will I need to take with me to obtain my wedding license?
Both the bride and groom to be, will need a valid current photo identification. Both must go together to obtain the wedding license. You cannot take your bride’s identification for her, nor can anyone else go to represent her, for example. Both bride and groom must show up in person, together, to obtain their license.

We look forward to working with you to make your wedding day one that will be happy, memorable and extra special.
